to quote...

~Douglas Adams

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

[This quote has ALWAYS cracked me up since I first read it... it reflects my life...]

That's funny. Ever since I quit lawyering, I haven't paid attention to deadlines once. I refuse structure in my life!

Hey, I just saw your comment on my blog about your son joining the Marines. Wow! That is an adjustment, especially for a mom. When Dirk deployed, I thought it was easier on me in some ways than on his mom. After all, I'd always known him as a big, tall, capable soldier and that's what he liked to do. His mom, on the other hand, had all those baby memories. She had a whole different view of him than I did.

If/when your son deploys, look for a group you can join. Blue Star Moms should have a chapter in your area. I can't overstate how helpful it has been to talk to other people in my situation. Others are very sympathetic and supportive, but it's the other Army wives who really understand. Find yourself some Marine moms when the time comes.

God bless your son! (and keep him safe)

Thanks M for your advice... I will remember...

Bee, giving myself a deadline is a sure way to send my body into a crash and burn mode, so learned NOT to worry about about deadlines even other people give out and think of them simply as "suggested timetables"... This isn't to say I don't understand that others have a need for them, but my body is in charge of the place we call Pollyville... Hence my affection for this quote...
